An afternoon at the go-kart track

pkartmug2About a year ago, we spent part of an afternoon at a go-kart track in Pattaya. Kevin (photo left) enjoys go-karts and that day he had a friend visiting from the United States to drive with him. Altogether, they did about 30 laps of the beginners track. Below are some photos and videos of that day. We can use them for some easy practice with English verb forms.

Player will show here

To make the activity easy let's just use two verbs: start and drive.

Karting 1

starting1. In this first photo, what were they going to do?
Watch the video to see if you were right. Look at questions 2 and 3 before you close the video because you will want to play it more than once.

started2. When the photo on the right was taken, how many go-karts had started? Check the video again and count.

started23. By the time Kevin started, how many go-karts had started ahead of him?
Check the video again and count.

Karting 2

driving4. What was Kevin doing here?
5. Was he ahead of or behind his friend? Check the video to find out.
